Training on Research Ethics and Responsible Conduct in Research

22 February 2022

Date: Tuesday, February 22, 2022, 9:00 am to 11:50 am
Trainer: Judith Paquet, Responsible Conduct Officer at Vice-rectorat à la recherche, à la création et à l’innovation (UL).

Online training presented in French as part of the courses GGR-4026 and GGR-7026 “Qualitative Analysis in Social and Environmental Research”.

Target audience: Students in the Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics.

Responsible conduct in research, ethics in research, academic integrity, ethics with humans, what’s the difference? What is the Université Laval Human Research Ethics Committee (CÉRUL)? As a student at Université Laval, what are my responsibilities and obligations in terms of ethics? Is ethical approval only required for data collection? What are some good practices that help mitigate ethical risks and issues? How many research projects are turned down by CERULs? Is scientific fraud an urban legend? To shed light on these questions, the February 22, 2022 session (9:00-11:50am) will offer an overview of the current research ecosystem, its complexity and ethical issues, as well as the values and resources that help maintain exemplary conduct in such a context.
