Réseau MRQ’s science popularization video contest!

You want to share your research project, talk about your laboratory, communicate an innovative method or technique or popularize any other scientific subject? Well, take part in this very first edition of the Quebec Renewable Materials Network’s scientific popularization video contest!

The contest is open to graduate students, undergraduate students doing a final year project, postdoctoral fellows and professional members of the MRQ network. However, only undergraduate and graduate students can win cash prizes.

How to participate?

  • Send us a video of no more than 3 minutes in length. Be creative! You can submit a video made alone or as part of a team. You can also include other people in your video. You can add sounds, music, royalty-free images, etc.
  • The video must be based on valid scientific sources and can be on any topic related to the four research axes of the MRQ network. The level of popularization must be appropriate for a general audience.
  • Participating videos will be posted on the MRQ Network website from May 11 to 25, 2021.
  • By participating in the contest, you agree that your video will be broadcast on the social networks of the Centre for Research on Renewable Materials (CRMR) and on the MRQ Network website.

Prizes $$$

3 cash prizes :

  • 1st jury prize: $350
  • 2nd jury prize: $250
  • 3rd prize, public’s favorite: $150

Evaluation criteria for the two jury prizes :

  • Scientific content and outreach skills
  • Originality
  • Quality of the presentation

1 Public Choice Award :

The public will be invited to vote for the video of their choice. There are no specific evaluation criteria for this award. It is up to you to seduce a diverse audience with your research and creativity!

The awards ceremony will take place on May 25, 2021, during the second annual Colloque du réseau MRQ, which will be in virtual mode!
