My thesis in 180 seconds” institutional competition

The 3MT is an internationally recognized competition for thesis-based graduate students in which participants present their scholarly and creative activity and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less. The challenge is to present complex research in an accessible and compelling way with the assistance of only one static slide.

In all, 9 doctoral-level finalists, selected from within their faculty, will give a clear, concise and convincing presentation on their research project. The Francophone component will have 6 finalists and 3 finalists will participate in the Anglophone component. The public will be invited to ask questions to the finalists and will be voting for the People’s Choice award to a finalist in each of the components.

The CRMR will be well represented with Solène Pellerin who will represent the FFGG and Laurence Picard who will represent the FSG !

  • Solène Pellerin – “Comment nos planchers peuvent-ils nous protéger d’un incendie?” Solène Pellerin is a PhD student in wood and bio-based materials engineering under the supervision of Véronic Landry (FFGG) and the cotutelle director of Sophie Duquesne (Université de Lille).
  • Laurence Picard – “Développement d’une gamme de connecteurs universels pour l’industrie de la construction industrialisée” Laurence Picard is a PhD student in mechanical engineering at the Faculty of Science and Engineering under the supervision of André Bégin-Drolet (FSG) and the co-direction of Pierre Blanchet (FFGG).
