MRQ Р20 minutes of science ! РV̩ronique Rouleau

29 January 2021

We will have the pleasure to hear Véronique Rouleau, PhD student at Université Laval at the CRMR and member of the MRQ network on January 29th, at 4:00 pm!  Véronique is directed by Evelyne Thiffault (UL) and co-directed by Christine Martineau (NRCan).

Title: Carbon storage and stabilization in forest soils: A tool to fight climate change!

The objective of her project is to measure the impact of forest harvesting practices used in Quebec on carbon stocks and stability (i.e., its protection against decomposition by microorganisms) in boreal forest soils. In other words, she wants to know if the forest management currently practiced in Quebec’s boreal forest has an impact on the long-term residence time of carbon in the soil and what factors promote this long-term stabilization.
