Free library training on advanced search

The Université Laval library invites you to a training session on advanced research that will allow you to understand how to effectively structure a research strategy, use the full potential of specialized databases, and draw inspiration from the methodology of syntheses to increase the quality of literature reviews.

Target audience: Faculty, graduate students and research staff

Course Content :

  • Advanced search in Sofia, using the Subject Heading Directory.
  • Selection of databases for searching scientific articles
  • Development of a search strategy: free and controlled vocabulary
  • Structured search strategy according to the recommended methodology for knowledge syntheses
  • Overview of different types of knowledge syntheses
  • Tools to ensure the quality of a literature review: PRISMA, Covidence and others
  • The Library’s Advanced Search Advisory Service
