Congratulations to the participants of my thesis in 180 seconds – 2023 Edition!

On March 14th, my thesis in 180 seconds contest was held in the Abitibi-Price cafeteria. We would like to congratulate all the participants who took part in the game because it takes a lot of courage and preparation to take up such a challenge!

Thanks also to those who contributed to the organization of the event. A special thank you to our host, Mr. Alexis Achim, and to our three judges: Ann Delwaide, David Pothier, and Francis Roy. Finally, thank you to the enthusiastic public who came to encourage our participants in great numbers!

We thank you for your commitment to the life of the faculty!

Here are the winners of the $180 prizes of the 2023 competition:

  • 1st Prize Anglophone Stream – CRMR Scholarship: Vahideh Akbari – Michael-addition: A newborn superhero in Wood densification.Vahideh is a PhD student in wood and bio-based materials engineering under the supervision of Véronic Landry.
  • 1st Prize – CEF Scholarship: Maxime Parot – Transformation of wood into carbon fibres.Maxime is a PhD student in wood and bio-based materials engineering under the supervision of Tatjana Stevanovic.
  • People’s Choice Award #1- CRDIG Grant: Abdessamad Jiloul – Let’s take inspiration from cardboard to build our future home.                                 Abdessamad is a PhD student in wood and bio-based materials engineering under the direction of Pierre Blanchet.
  • People’s Choice Award #2- FFGG Grant: Vahideh Akbari – Michael-addition: A newborn superhero in Wood densification.                                                   Vahideh is a PhD student in wood and bio-based materials engineering under the supervision of Véronic Landry.

Vahideh will represent the FFGG at the UL institutional finals, Anglophone section, of my thesis in 180 seconds contest in order to represent Laval University at the Eastern Canadian finals.

Maxime will represent the FFGG at the UL institutional finals, Francophone section, in order to participate in the ACFAS « Ma thèse en 180 secondes » competition.

We invite you to encourage them by following the webcast of the U Laval final (in French and English) on March 22, 2023, at 12:00 on the FESP YouTube channel.
