Alexis Achim will speak to elementary school children about the effect of climate on tree growth during NSERC’s Science Literacy Week

1 September 2021

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is hosting Science Literacy Week. The goal of this event is to introduce children and families to the many ways to explore and enjoy the diversity of Canadian science. From September 20 to 26, 2021, libraries, museums, science centers, schools and not-for-profit organizations will join together to celebrate the week, which this year has a climate theme. Books, films, podcasts, and activities that uncover compelling stories about the science, discoveries, and ingenuity that shape our lives will be highlighted and shared during this exciting week.

In partnership with Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants, NSERC is planning virtual events to celebrate science and climate. These events will feature climate experts presenting their research to a young audience and answering questions. One of the guest experts will be Alexis Achim, who will participate in a 45-minute session about the effect of climate on tree growth on September 21 at 2:15 p.m. that will be geared toward an audience of elementary school children.
