Advanced Literature Research Training

Activity organized by the Renewable Materials Research Centre (CRMR), in collaboration with the Laval University Library.

The Laval University Library invites you to a training session on advanced literature research that will allow you to understand how to effectively structure a research strategy, use the full potential of specialized databases, and draw on the methodology of knowledge syntheses to increase the quality of literature reviews.

Conference speaker: Joë Bouchard, consulting librarian at Laval University.

When? Wednesday, February 22, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.- In-person, event in French.

Where? Jean-Charles-Bonenfant Pavilion – Library – 4th floor – GeoStat Centre computer lab – BNF-4248.

Target audience:   Graduate students, faculty and research staff.

Training Content:

  • Advanced literature search in Sofia, using the Subject Heading Directory
  • Selection of databases for searching scientific articles
  • Development of a search strategy: free and controlled vocabulary
  • Structured search strategy according to the recommended methodology for knowledge syntheses
  • Overview of different types of knowledge syntheses
  • Tools to ensure the quality of a literature review
